What is worship?

What is good worship?

What makes worship great?

Jesus stated, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.  And, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.  These are the two Great Commandments.”

One of the ways we love God is through worship.  Hopefully we have an attitude of worship daily with devotionals and proper living.

Worship involves praying, singing, reading of the Bible, reciting the Bible, proclaiming the Gospel, praying forgiveness of past deeds, and receiving grace by drawing close to God in a Holy Communion with Him.  In worship we praise God for His goodness and we ask Him to purify our hearts.

Good worship contains all of the above words in bold.  Good worship takes us spiritually to the throne of God.

However, great worship happens when we submit ourselves in worship with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength.  Great worship happens when the praying, singing, Bible reading & reciting, and proclaiming of the Gospel are all tied together with the same theme.  Great, intimate worship happens when all of our being is drawn to God by our senses – touch, taste, hear, smell, and sight.  In great worship God touches our very being and our lives are changed!
